Background: Berggård Amundsen & Co AS is an independent, Norwegian- and family-owned electrical wholesaler, established in 1946. The fact that they are both Norwegian and family-owned makes them stand out in their industry. It affects, among other things, their business and core values, and encourages long-term thinking.
In addition, Berggård Amundsen has its own electrician chain, Norgeseliten, with 195 independent member companies, as well as service stores spread throughout the country.
Description: The Group Management of Berggård Amundsen saw a need to expand and update its business strategy, and needed a consulting company that could assist with concept development and advice in the process. When choosing an agency, knowledge of innovation and digital knowledge became important criteria.
Berggård Amundsen has 26 service centers around the country, focusing on local presence and proximity to customers and their everyday lives. With the vision of “value creation for future generations”, it became important to make good, conscious choices in the strategic work to ensure long-term sustainability.
Delivery: The first thing that was done was to obtain the knowledge that had been prepared internally, both the documented and the undocumented, through interviews of key people in the company. In order to ensure the right strategic choices, Oslo Digital analysed the collected material and weighed this against Berggård Amundsen's objective.
Based on the findings, we recommended a business strategy that covered, among other things, channel strategy, marketing strategy, sales strategy and customer service strategy. Berggård Amundsen has a complex channel structure with many stakeholders as they are both a distributor, wholesaler and have their own chain of electricians. Therefore, it was important to take this into account in the channel strategy, to take advantage of all existing values in the value chain.
